New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Energy Smarts Students June '05 Newsletter (Page 6) This is a newsletter for New York State K-12 school teachers that is distributed by the state agency responsible for energy management/conservation. Its circulation is approximately 2000 copies. (NYSERDA/NEED, June '05) Brooklyn Army Terminal "Green Power Purchase" Press Event This was a press event that Mason organized to announce the NYCEDC purchases of wind power from Con Edison Solutions, Inc. Power Downtown: "Turning Energy into Power" The Power Downtown Program was created by Mason to assist lower Manhattan businesses effected by 9/11/2001. The program received high accolades from the business community for it's goal and administration. Mason enrolled over 800 businesses into Power Downtown and was later awarded the NYCEDC President's Award for his efforts. (Real Estate Weekly, 6/18/03) Electric Cars: Made in Brooklyn? Mason assembled a team of fellow economic development professionals to work on attracting an electric car manufacturer to New York City. (Brooklyn Eagle, 2/13/02) Community Board Soap Opera After serving a stellar 2-year term with perfect attendance at all meetings, Mason and three others were not reappointed to Community Board 12 Manhattan. The action created an uproar amongst his fellow board members and it resulted in quite a dramatic board meeting. Within 4 months Mason was reappointed as a Public Member to the Board on the Housing Committee by the Board Chair and appointed to the DYCD Neighborhood Advisory Board by the Borough President. (Manhattan Times, 4/26/05) Rockefeller Drug Law Reform This is a photo and an article from the Manhattan Times about a public forum that Mason (left, seated at table) organized as a member of the Public Safety Committee of Community Board 12 Manhattan. State Senator Eric Schneiderman was the guest speaker for the event that was attended by over 80 members of our community. (Manhattan Times, 1/27/05) Monkey Room Goes Quiet Mason conducted a sound check and then negotiated a settlement between residents and a neighboring bar/lounge. The business owner invested over $10,000 in sound remediation. (Manhattan Times, 10/14/04) Miller Editorial City Council Speaker Gifford Miller stopped by and Mason gave him an earful about watering down car alarm ban legislation. He then wrote a letter to the editor to clarify and reinforce his position on this issue. (Manhattan Times, 10/27/04) R.I.P.
